ArjoHuntleigh Lifeguard Range Stretchers

GENERAL

The movement of patients in critical condition needs expedience and care. It also be simplie and speeds up procedures in critical moments and ensures comfort and convenience for both patients and nursing staff alike. Further cleaning procedures are simple.

The beds have excellent mobility features,– one nurse can master the handling of the bed without the need of great physical strain. All equipment contains inconspicuous details which protect the safety of the nurse as much as possible.

The unique Sprint mattress contains stiffened sliding mats, which create a firm surface when transferring the patient from one bed to another or an operating table.

All the control features are robust and easily accessible. The robust handrail at the head end of the stretcher enables easy handling also allowing it to be slid beneath the stretcher.

A collapsible infusion stand can be placed at each corner of the stretcher.

Protective bars and corner Castor minimize collisions during transport.

The fifth Castor facilitates the handling of the stretcher, the 200 mm diameter Castor increases height clearance.

Making an X-ray photograph is facilitated due to an opaque shoulder rest.

The cushion is made of a visco-elastic material and this stretcher has adequate anti-bump guards.

The bed can be pre-sterilized before and after the patient use.

Handgrips

The height of the handgrips can be adjusted by release by depressing the springloaded knob (1), while adjusting the desired height (2) of the grip. Release of (1), the handgrip position is fixed.

Braking and Steering Movement

On either side of the trolley at its end are located the two linked braking pedal crank. When these pedal crank are in the depressed position, the roller wheels/castors are "braked". With these pedal crank in a horizontal position, the roller wheels/castors are free to "roll" but also swivel in the desired direction.

When the pedals are in the "Brake" position, the brakes are applied on all four castors. When the crank pedals are horizontal, the castors are free to rotate and swivel.

Optionally, the fifth wheel/castor can be deployed by positioning the pedal crank upwards.

When the pedals are in the "Steer" position, one foot end castor is prevented from swivelling and the trolley can be pushed from the head end. In this "Steer" position, the central fifth wheel is prevented from swivelling; the trolley will keep on a straight course in any direction and can be steered by pivoting about the fift wheel.

When this fifth wheel castor is not being deployed, the steering is attained by the rear castors at the foot end while pushing the stretcher on the opposing head side.

Height and Tilt adjustment

The Stretcher height adjustment and tilt is achieved with the aid of the five pedals on either side of the bed. The three lower pedals are marked for "UP-ward" and the two upper pedals for "DOWN-ward" movement of the stretcher on the appropriate side belonging to the triangluar mark. This also implies if the objective is to Tilt the stretcher upwards, the pedal with the black triangle for the stretcher end which needs to be raised, needs to be pumped; by the same token, the red triangle needs to be depressed to bring this stretcher side lower. Note: On the head-side, there is also an additional pedal to tilt this end.

If the stretcher is initially in a tilted position, and it is dubsequently raised or lowered, this tilt position is maintained till the raised or lowered end reaches its highest or lowest limit; therafter the stretcher attains a horizontal position at this height.

Backrest Tilt

The effort required to tilt the backrest upwards or downwards is dependant on the mobility and weight of the patient. In the case of heavier patient, the backrest can descend rapidly unless this is prevented. Consequently, the design has been made whereby the operator holds the lever firmly in grip while simultaneously affecting its release by pressing the (the gas spring assisted) knob and allowing the raise or lowering of the backrest. Once the knob is released, the backrest will remain in the desired position.

Side Rails movement

To raise the side rails, hold the uppermost rail and raise this to its highest position. To lower it, pull the release knob and allow the side rail to descend.

Further lowering of the Side Rails for patient's X-ray analysis

Such photographs are usually made with a C-Arm X-ray fixture. To conduct this study, these side rails need to be lowered further for C-Arm access. The side rails can be folded away while being supported on two cylindrical flats.

X-ray Photography

The mattress and platform are radio luscent. A full length cassette tray can be included as a factory-fitted option, which can be accessed from either side of the trolley.
